I was inspired to launch Special Leaf, which offers three different kinds of specialty artisanal teas made from the leaves of olive trees after working at an Olive Tree Orchard, where I learned about the amazing health benefits of the olive leaf, which has been used medicinally as far back as Ancient Egypt.
We currently offer two different flavors – The Sweet Side and When Life Gives You Lemons, which are the first ready to drink olive leaf iced teas on the market.
As a professional chef, I’ve worked with my hands for over two decades. I personally started drinking the olive leaf tea for my arthritis, so that I don’t have to rely on modern medications anymore. Our teas do not contain caffeine. Instead, thanks to the olive leaves, they have a multitude of healing compounds such as oleuropein, that are anti-inflammatory, immune-boosting and also have 400 percent more Vitamin C than any other source. Our other ingredients are minimal, simple and transparent.
Although we have developed them to compete in the recreational Ready To Drink Iced Tea category, they really are in a unique niche of delicious thirst-quenching recreational teas that are also very healthful.
With the exponential growth of the health foods industry, combined with the fact that tea is the second most consumed drink after water, the market is ready for our Special Leaf teas, which are essentially an elevated version of the Texas iced teas that we all know and love, yet still priced competitively.
Although we will first target our reach regionally, we intend to expand into the national market within the next two years. We believe our Special Leaf teas are something that needs to be shared with the world, and that’s our goal.
